"So fascinatingly behind-the-scenes that it will make you listen to the album as if you've never heard it before."--EsquireIn 1974 Bob Dylan wrote, recorded, reconsidered, and then re-recorded the best-selling studio album of his career. Blood on the Tracks was composed as Dylan's twelve-year marriage began to unravel, and songs like "Tangled Up in Blue" and "Shelter from the Storm" have become templates for multidimensional, adult songs of love and loss. Yet the story behind the creation of this album has never been fully told; even the credits on the present-day album sleeve are inaccurate. Dylan recorded the album twice-once in New York City and again in Minneapolis, with a rag-tag gang of local musicians, quickly rewriting many of the songs in the process. For A Simple Twist of Fate, the authors have interviewed the musicians and producers, industry insiders, and others, creating an engaging chronicle of how one musician channeled his pain and confusion into great art.

At this time of writing, The Ebook A Simple Twist of Fate: Bob Dylan and the Making of Blood on the Tracks has garnered 9 customer reviews with rating of 5 out of 5 stars. Not a bad score at all as if you round it off, it’s actually a perfect TEN already. From the looks of that rating, we can say the Ebook is Good TO READ!

Well, I should have listened to the more intelligent reviews. Granted, writing a book about one of the major milestones of 20th century poetry and music is no easy task. Writer and publisher fell into just about every possible trap, starting with the annoying habit of reminding the reader on every other page what a masterpiece BOTT is. We know that. That's why we bought the book. The interviews with session musicians, who have nothing to say except that they witnessed history in the making, go on forever and ever, and obviously have never seen an editor's pen. Worse, some quotes are even used twice throughout the book.Observations about a recording studio like "It was the perfect hideaway for a lonely rock star" or something along that line make any halfway intelligent Dylan aficionado cringe in pain, not to mention the horrible line in the summary that says Bob Dylan "is still on the road, heading for another joint."A totally superfluous chapter on the political history of the time has no relation to the creative process of writing and recording BOTT whatsoever, and was therefore so obviously written as a filler that you cannot help getting the feeling you have been cheated out of your money.Having said all that, a few anecdotes from the recording studios do give valuable insight of Dylan's way of working. Intelligently edited and polished, this could have been a great 20-pages article, but should never have been puffed up as a book.
